Don't Panic!
When I first started making music with Open Source Software (about
early 2007), the documentation that existed generally fell into one of
two categories overly simplistic or too technical. As a result it took
me several years of trial and error to develop a system for making
music with open source software that I can use on a daily basis without
having to stumble over application specifics.
Of course there is a fair amount of time that needs to be spent on
learning something new, this learning experience for me has been
rewarding not just on a technical level but also sociologically as the
concepts of open source extend beyond software. As a
result I hope to remain a scholar of open source indefinitely and I'll
be happy to help you generate your own understanding of what that means.
